Fort Wayne is lucky to have one of the best Zoo’s in the country

You may not know it, but today is National Zoo Awareness Day, so I thought I’d share some important facts about our own Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo:

– Consistently ranks as one of the top zoos in the country for children and families

– One of the few self-supporting zoos in the country

– More than 40% of its visitors before the pandemic were from outside Fort Wayne

– My kids, and now my grandson, simply love it

For all those reasons and so many more, I’m very proud to have the zoo in my city council district and I advocate for it every chance I get. It’s truly a treasure and demonstrates how passion accompanied with vision and careful planning can make a big impact on a community.
