WOWO Headline "TRAA Approvals Pay Increase For Medics & Dispatchers Amid Operations Takeover"

If you missed the news, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority is raising pay for their front line emergency positions to help recruit and retain more paramedics. You can read the story on WOWO here. This move comes after I, along with with my council colleagues Tom Freistroffer and Russ Jehl, advocated for the TRAA board to dissolve their relationship with a poorly performing contractor so they could be more competitive.

The last thing Fort Wayne needed is another bad contractor failing to provide services to residents. We have seen this story with the garbage contract, I am just glad the City of Fort Wayne is taking action before things get too late. Any citizen should expect that when they get injured and require emergency medical transportation that it gets there quickly and our neighbors in New Haven and around Allen County should not expect to have to bail us out. You can read our full editorial about the steps we need to be taking to ensure Fort Wayne has an effective emergency response here.
